The Sunshine Boys

Pure Neil Simon

Al and Willie as ’Lewis and Clark‘ were top-billed vaudevillians for over forty years. Now they aren't even speaking. When CBS requests them for a ’History of Comedy‘ retrospective, a grudging reunion brings the two back together, along with a flood of memories, miseries and laughs.

’It's ham on wry...Simon's sure footed craftsmanship and his one liners are as exquisitely apt as ever.‘ - New York Post

Anchorage Festival of Music: 2015 Spring Soiree

An Event for All Your Senses

String Quartets in "Single Bites" will feature single movement string quartets by Sibelius, Gershwin, and Webern, with a rare performance of Amy Beach's Op. 89 - inspired by Inuit melodies. Dawn Lindsay and Kathryn Hoffer, violins; Mari Jamieson, viola; Linda Ottum, cello.

This will be an event for all of your senses! Enjoy music performed by four of Alaska's best musicians surrounded by the always fine and sometimes funky art of the blue.hollomon gallery, fast becoming one of Anchorage's centers of creativity. The program features single-movement works for string quartet and is capped by a "single bites" reception with an opportunity to meet the performers.

In a single evening with single movements, the program spans the musical universe: the lush romanticism of the young Anton Webern, the sliding melodies of Chinese folk-inspired Zhou Long, the stoic yet passionate Jean Sibelius, and the subtle blues of George Gershwin's Lullaby. The signature piece will be Amy Beach's rarely heard Op. 89 inspired by Inuit melodies.

Parlor in the Round

Anchorage's very own in-the Round style Dinner Show.

An Evening of Improvisation, Collaboration and Motivation!
The Mountain State has it's Stage and the Prairie Home, it's Companion. This concert season Alaskans will gather at Parlor In The Round. Borrowing from the guitar pull tradition of porches and campfires, songwriters from all walks of ALaskan life (and some beyond) will trade songs and stories as they are inspired by each other and the audience. After the intermission, tradition is cast aside as the musicians dive into collaborations, jocular inventions and premeditated musing. Kevin Worrell hosts this dinner theater, drawing out the strength and vulnerability of each artist and holding the crowd closely throughout the performance. The TapRoot Public House transforms its dance floor into a candle lit dining room and a hush falls over the crowd. Expect to lean in and laugh out loud at Parlor in the Round.

MacBeth

By William Shakespeare, adapted by David Edgecombe.

Celebrate Shakespeare's 451st birthday month with a modern Macbeth, featuring strong political overtones, contemporary dress and lots of intrigue! This production will also feature multi-media elements...and perhaps even a little heavy metal! Edgecombe is noted for his Shakespearean productions, which are both accessible and exciting. Elizabeth Ware, who has played almost every other female Shakespeare role, will finally get to play her "dream role" of Lady M.
