Christmas Belles

Christmas Belles

At Christmas in the small town of Fayro, Texas, the Futrelle Sisters are not in a festive mood. Frankie is weeks overdue with her second set of twins. Twink is in jail, and hot-flash-suffering Honey Raye is desperately trying to keep the Tabernacle of the Lamb's Christmas Program from spiraling into chaos. But it's not promising - the cast is dropping like flies due to food poisioning. There's more! Frankie let slip a carefully guarded family secret. All hope for a successful Christmas program seems lost. But in true Futrelle fashion, the feuding sisters find a way to pull together to present a Christmas program the citizens of Fayro will never forget!

LIGHT:RETURNS - New Stories of Hope from Village Alaska

New Stories of Hope from Village Alaska

From Alaska Native storyteller, educator and playwright, Jack Dalton, creator of Raven Returns: The Story of The Human Beings, Assimilation (“One of the most powerful pieces of locally written theatre ever produced here.” - Mike Dunham, Arts Editor, Anchorage Daily News, March 2013, and featured February 2015 at Emory University's Global Voices play festival), The Last of His Kind, and co-creator of Raven's Radio Hour and Time Immemorial, comes a brand new performance:

During the darkest days of winter, all people tell stories of the light returning. And the long darkness survived.

These have been dark times for Alaska Native peoples, with statistics still painting a dark picture.

But a new generation is here, waiting, ready to take on the challenges of healing our peoples, and our world. Jack has met them while working in Village Alaska.

Now, for the first time, Jack will share those stories during the darkest nights of the year.

Stories of hope.

Stories of resilience.

Stories of the light to come.

From a Bristol Bay youth who survived a horrible, and all too typical, childhood, but still hopes to be an artist; to traditional dance returning, because of the youth, to the village of Quinhagak, where it was banned for 100 years; to 300 students at a school district dance festival who proved how ready they are to be catalysts of healing.

They are beautiful stories, and they will bring hope.

And, with hope comes the light.

And, with the light … possibility.

Are you part of the possible?

Scared Scriptless Improv

Alaska's Premier Improv Comedy Troupe
(Ir)regularly Performing Every 2nd, 3rd & 4th Saturday

Scared Scriptless Improv

Scared Scriptless Improv is Alaska's premier improv comedy troupe (ir)regularly performing in Anchorage Alaska every second and fourth Saturday of the month since May 2000. Live improv has a heightened intensity, a voyeuristic glee that comes from watching comedy without a net. A close-contact brand of improv, as fast and furious as a video game, with words and movements thrown out in a continuous mix of voices, accents and energetic motions. You just have to see it – and luckily, locally, you can.

Scared Scriptless Improv SECRET SATURDAYS (3rd Saturdays)

Scared Scriptless' 3rd Saturday performance is NEW TO 2014 - The 3rd Saturday of every month is now Scared Scriptless "Secret Saturdays"! A different format each month, it could be long-form improv, musical improv, puppet improv, an improv cagematch or who knows what else! It's always fresh and always different. Some of the edgiest improv you will see in Alaska provided by Alaska's most experienced comedy improv troupe.

DAY OF SHOW: CenterTix will stop selling tickets at 5:00 PM. Will call and any remaining tickets will be available at the door. Doors open one (1) hour prior to show.

Scared Scriptless Improv is presented by Scared Scriptless.

Keep updated with Scared Scriptless activities online: www.scaredscriptless.com, on Facebook: www.facebook.com/ScaredScriptlessAlaska and via Twitter feed: twitter.com/scaredscriptles.
