A Christmas Carol

A Family Holiday Favorite in a New Staging

This holiday season, witness Ebenezer Scrooge's miraculous Christmas Eve transformation in a new adaptation by Arlitia Jones and Michael Haney. Ebenezer Scrooge is a greedy and stingy businessman, with no place in his life for kindness, compassion, charity or benevolence. When Scrooge is visited by four ghosts, including his former business partner, Jacob Marley, he is warned to change his ways or face a miserable afterlife. Directed by Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's Artistic Associate Michael Haney, whose love of the story has lead him to directing the show in Cincinnati for over twenty years!

A Christmas Carol is presented by Perseverance Theatre.

Although this play was written in 2008, the issues it explores continue to make the front-page headlines of today, particularly in Alaska. A romance between an older scientist and a young, vivacious doctoral student. The older man can't stop theorizing about the past, while the younger student is looking forward to applying her research to the future. Parlor in the Round

Anchorage's very own in-the Round style Dinner Show.

An Evening of Improvisation, Collaboration and Motivation!
The Mountain State has it's Stage and the Prairie Home, it's Companion. This concert season Alaskans will gather at Parlor In The Round. Borrowing from the guitar pull tradition of porches and campfires, songwriters from all walks of ALaskan life (and some beyond) will trade songs and stories as they are inspired by each other and the audience. After the intermission, tradition is cast aside as the musicians dive into collaborations, jocular inventions and premeditated musing. Kevin Worrell hosts this dinner theater, drawing out the strength and vulnerability of each artist and holding the crowd closely throughout the performance. The TapRoot Public House transforms its dance floor into a candle lit dining room and a hush falls over the crowd. Expect to lean in and laugh out loud at Parlor in the Round.

Parlor in the Round is presented by Tap Root.

BRUNDIBÁR and "I Never Saw Another Butterfly"

BRUNDIBÁR and "I Never Saw Another Butterfly"

An Inspirational Evening of Theater for the Entire Family! Brundibár is a beautiful children’s story extolling the virtues of courage and cooperation and collective action against tyranny. First performed in 1943 by children of the Theresienstadt concentration camp under the direction of its likewise imprisoned composer, the one-act opera tells the story of a brother and sister who join forces with a sparrow, cat and dog to outwit the evil organ grinder.

I Never Saw Another Butterfly, based on a collection of works of art and poetry by Jewish children who also lived in Theresienstadt, is a one-act play of love and hope, set amid the loss and anguish of life in the concentration camp.

The voices of children of Theresientadt live on in these two one-act shows, touching our souls and inspiring us all to be brave and resist tyrants of all kinds, in every generation. Appropriate for all age groups—a perfect introduction to opera, poetry & art! Presented in proud collaboration by Anchorage Opera and West High School.

BRUNDIBÁR and "I Never Saw Another Butterfly" is presented by Anchorage Opera.
