The Sitka Summer Music Festival is a classical chamber music series performed by internationally acclaimed musicians. Each program is different and will include works by master composers of the 17th, 18th and 19th Centuries.
Zuill Bailey is widely considered one of the premiere cellists in the world. His rare combination of celebrated artistry, technical wizardry as well as his engaging personality has secured his place as one of the most sought after and active cellists today. He is also the Art Director Designate (2012) for the Sitka Summer Music Festival. His CD, the "Bach Cello Suites" has soared to the top of the Classical Billboard Charts. "The sound is rich, like dark chocolate...his voice is distinctive--strong and direct. Bailey reaches from the soul of his instrument to our own." -- Jason Victor Serinus
This year's three-concert weekend will feature Sitka Festival founders Paul Rosenthal and pianist Doris Stevenson with longtime Festival favorite, cellist Eugene Osadchy. Friday night will feature sonatas by Beethoven and Debussy, and the concert will conclude with a piece by Russian romantic master Anton Arensky. Saturday night will open with Beethoven's first published work, a piano trio that took Vienna by storm. Then it's a salute to the Bohemians as Rosenthal and Stevenson play the folk-influenced and adventurous Janacek violin sonata. The concert will conclude with Smetana's Piano Trio. Sunday afternoon cellist Eugene Osadchy has arranged four of the Shostakovich Piano preludes as duets for cello and violin. The evening will also feature the final piano trio by Brahms and a final trio Franz Schubert.
CHILDREN - Children younger than six (6) will not be admitted.

Everything Red Molly sings is delivered with tick-tight arrangements, crystalline vocals, and caramel harmonies. But what is most striking is the ardor they bring to everything they do, whether snuggling into the sweet parochialism of an old spiritual, or the gritty pathos of a Gillian Welch tune. Red Molly consistently brings concert-goers to their feet with stunning three-part harmonies, crisp musicianship and a warm, engaging, contagious stage presence. This will be fun!

Cheryl Wheeler has to be seen to be appreciated. Nothing you read and nothing you hear from her album prepares you for how good a performer she is. From her albums you can tell that she is a gifted songwriter with a beautiful voice. But until you see her in person, you never really believe what you've been told about her. Besides, almost half of the songs she does during her shows haven't been recorded!
