Hot Club of Cowtown 2012
A Refreshingly Sweet-Natured,
Old-School Treat
Austin trio Hot Club Of Cowtown sounds like it’s spent the last 40 years in tiny rural clubs. The group’s old-fashioned mixture of Western swing and hot jazz leaves all the irony at home, and what’s left is a refreshingly sweet-natured, accomplished, old-school treat, mixing the perky rhythms of swing masters like Bob Wills with the European gypsy music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. The young band distinguishes itself by its technical musicianship and vast acreage of diverse styles alone, but it seals the deal on stage, subtly and methodically casting aside the audience’s daily worries and levitating the room into a dreamy salon of carefree abandon. Even the heartbreak songs are served sunny-side up.

BABIES & CHILDREN: Whistling Swan Productions strives to provide a listening environment where patrons and artists can focus on the music without distraction. Because of the quiet acoustic nature of most of our shows, all children in attendance should be able to sit without supervision in a way that does not distract or disturb other listeners for sets that normally last at least an hour, and may stretch to two full hours. In our four decades of producing shows, attending shows with our own children, and supervising students as educators, we've found that children under the age of nine seldom have the interest and focus to sit through acoustic shows of this length without causing stress on parents, musicians, and other listeners. Therefore, while there are rare exceptions, we strongly advise parents to not bring children under the age of nine to Whistling Swan shows unless they are specifically labeled as for children or families.
DAY OF SHOW: CenterTix sales end at Wednesday, August 15 at 3:00 pm. Will call and any available tickets will be at the door one (1) hour prior to curtain. Ticket price is $25 at the door.
